Types of counselling: online and face to face

About me

The main approach underpinning my work is transactional analysis. This is a form of psychotherapy which focuses on how we become who we are, and how we grow and change during the course of life.

I have experience of helping people with the following:

  • abuse (domestic, emotional, physical)
  • anxiety and stress
  • bereavement, loss and grief
  • depression
  • psychological aspects of migraine and chronic pain
  • relationship difficulties
  • sexuality and other identity issues
  • self-harm or self-injury
  • self-confidence and self-esteem difficulties
  • work problems
I also have experience of helping people explore and work through more general concerns to do with a sense of discomfort, ' just not feeling right', and a sense of recurring life patterns or themes.

Experience

I have worked in private practice for five years. I currently work practice both face-to-face and online with individuals and couples. Therapy can be open-ended (for an indefinite period, the time frame worked out according to need as the therapy proceeds) or for an agreed number of sessions. We can discuss your particular needs when we first meet.

Previously, I worked at a Women’s Centre in Lancashire (for three years) where I provided psychotherapy and counselling under the umbrella of the NHS Increasing Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) initiative. Here I provided short-term therapy within an eight-session therapeutic model.

Qualifications and Training

I am currently completing Advanced Clinical Training in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy, as part of working towards accreditation as a Certified Transactional Analyst and achieving UKCP-Registered status as a Psychotherapist.

I am also a Certified Cyber Therapist and Certified Cyber Facilitator with the Online Therapy Institute and a member of the Association for Counselling and Therapy Online (ACTO)

I adhere to the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy Code of Ethics and receive regular supervision according to UKCP guidelines.
